Are you making your cholesterol problem worse?
Have you been diagnosed with high cholesterol?
If you answered yes, you have likely been prescribed a statin drug to lower your cholesterol.
The advice given to you along with the medication is to take this drug for the rest of your life to constantly lower your blood cholesterol levels.
No one has identified the CAUSE of your problem, they will just use the medication to cover up the SYMPTOM.
If you asked, “why is my cholesterol high?”
You probably heard: it runs in your family, you eat too much dietary cholesterol, you are getting older, bad luck, etc.
Why did the problem randomly start in your 40’s or 50’s? Why do some people in your family have the same problem and some don’t? Is there anything you can do to change cholesterol levels before you start a medication?
The reality is, your body is raising cholesterol levels for a reason. Your current state of health is not random chance. Your body is intelligent.

If you are taking a statin, this part is for you:
- Statins block a step in the production of cholesterol. This causes you to make less cholesterol. This also means you make less coenzyme Q10.
- Statins have been found to reduce the amount of naturally occurring coenzyme Q10 in the body.
- Lack of coenzyme Q10 affects muscle cells and is associated with symptoms such as aches and pains (myalgia), weakness (myopathy) and exercise intolerance.
- Low levels of coenzyme Q10 affect heart muscle contraction, and can lead to heart pump failure.
- A recent US study, involving over 482,000 statin users found that those taking a statin were 4x more likely to experience acute memory loss than non-users. Brain cells contain high numbers of mitochondria. It is possible that memory-associated side effects are related to a sudden decrease in coenzyme Q10 levels.
If you are on a statin, evidence shows you will benefit from supplementing CoQ10:
- A study involving 60 people with statin-associated myopathy, found that coenzyme Q10 supplements reduced the intensity of muscle pain by 53%, muscle weakness by 60% and muscle cramps by 65%, while tiredness decreased by 82%. No significant changes occurred in the placebo group.
- Supplemental CoQ10 has the potential for prevention of cardiovascular disease through the inhibition of LDL cholesterol oxidation and maintenance of optimal cellular and mitochondrial function. Higher doses of CoQ10 appears to enhance clinical improvement of cardiovascular disease.
- Ubiquinol (CoQ10) inhibits damage of cell membrane lipids and lipoprotein lipids present in the circulation. Dietary supplementation with CoQ10 results in less damage to your LDL molecules. CoQ10 has a direct anti-atherogenic effect. Supplementation with CoQ10 helps decrease atherosclerotic lesions in the whole aorta.
More reasons to take CoQ10 daily:
- Although statins have been shown to lower cholesterol, there are other factors that relate to heart disease. Due to the other effects of statins, researchers claim that taking them may stimulate arterial damage and cause atherosclerosis.
- Coronary heart disease (heart attack) is associated with chronic inflammation within artery walls. More inflammation hardens the walls of your arteries and speeds up process of atherosclerosis.
- Coenzyme Q10 is a powerful antioxidant which protects against excess inflammation.
- This means by taking a statin and decreasing CoQ10, you lower your body’s natural anti-inflammatory defense.
How much should I take?
- If you are an athlete or want to protect your body from damage:
- Supplement 100mg per day.
- If you are taking a statin drug and want to offset your lowered CoQ10 levels:
- Supplement 200 mg per day.
Which type should I take?
THIS is the CoQ10 we carry in the office. This is the one I take at home. It is best for broad use to help lower inflammation and maintain healthy energy levels:
HERE is a 2-month supply of a higher dose for those of you on statins:
THIS is a CoQ10 mixed with Red Yeast Rice. It helps lower cholesterol naturally for those of you who have borderline cholesterol levels on your blood test. Start supplementing with this for 90 days, along with following the Advanced Nutrition Plan to start lowering your cholesterol levels before your next blood work:
